Living on Keuka is meant to be useful and trustworthy. This page explains how the site may make money and how we keep that separate from what we write.
Current status
Living on Keuka now participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate program that lets sites earn fees by linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, Living on Keuka earns from qualifying purchases. If you buy something after clicking one of our Amazon links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
We have no sponsored posts, paid placements, or display advertising, and no company has paid to be mentioned on this site.
How we use affiliate links
- Chosen for usefulness. We link to a type of product only where a guide already covers it and readers are likely to need it, such as freeze alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, furnace filters, or snow gear. A commission never decides whether or how we cover a topic, product, or rule.
- Clearly labeled. Every page with Amazon links carries a note near the top, and the links are marked as sponsored.
- Light touch. A few links in a short “What to have on hand” list. No banners, pop-ups, product boxes, or sidebar ads.
- No prices or ratings. Prices and availability change, so check them on Amazon. Most links go to Amazon search results so you can compare options yourself.
- Not a substitute for professionals or official guidance. A home test kit doesn’t replace a certified-lab water test, and anything connected to your wiring, plumbing, or septic system should be installed by a qualified professional.
- We don’t publish fake reviews, made-up testimonials, or “best of” lists we haven’t researched. We don’t link to Amazon from legal or tax guides.
Local placements (future)
We may offer a small number of clearly labeled local placements for relevant service providers, such as septic pumpers, contractors, or insurance agents. We won’t run a cluttered directory. Paid placements will always be marked as paid and kept separate from editorial content.
Display advertising (future)
Once the site has meaningful traffic, we may run display ads through a reputable ad network. We don’t run pop-ups or banner farms, and we’ll aim to keep ads from getting in the way of the content. If we add advertising, we’ll update this page and our Privacy Policy.
Not professional advice
Our content is general information, not legal, tax, engineering, financial, or insurance advice. Always confirm rules and figures with the official sources we link to and with licensed professionals.
